Is transcranial stimulation safe?
We used a technology that has shown no side-effects compared to placebo stimulation and has been used extensively worldwide on thousands of users with excellent safety and comfort.
tES involves extremely low-current electrical current. Research studies employ stimulation up to a maximum of 4 mA, while our system has shown efficacy with even lower strength, maximising comfort and increasing the benefit from neurostimulation thanks to our AI patented methodology.
There are certain specific subgroups (e.g. people with neurological disorders that may be exacerbated, with a risk of epilepsy, or with implanted electrical devices such as cardiac pacemakers) who at this stage should avoid using our product.
Are there any side effects?
Due to the unique neurostimulation protocol we extensively tested, the experience by those who receive real stimulation is indistinguishable from those who receive placebo.
We use stimulation protocols based on research on thousands of people that have not shown any mental side effects. The possibility of user habituation over time has not been evidenced to date; to the extent that any evidence of habituation does emerge, Cognite’s personalisation software is uniquely positioned to address this.
